MINT DIRECTORS SERIES COINS MDS – NGC SIGNATURE CERTIFIED BLACK CORE LABELS

Edmund C. Moy, the 38th Director of the U.S. Mint, and David J Ryder, 39th Director of the U.S. Mint are individually autographing labels for Numismatic Guaranty Corporation® (NGC®), under an exclusive arrangement. Moy served from 2006 to 2011, and Ryder served as both 34th and 39th 1992 to 1993 and returned to the position from 2018-2021. Both men were named in Coin World’s Most Influential People (1960-2020). Moy and Ryder brought many exciting modern coins to the marketplace, greatly enhancing the tradition of U.S. coin collecting with their leadership.

Condition

Coins are graded on the Sheldon numeric grading scale of 1 to 70. To achieve the top grade 70, a coin must have no post-production imperfections at 5x magnification. The series low mintage of only 8,700 coins, perfect MS70 grade, Mint Director black core labels, low NGC certified population, and Moy/Ryder signatures, make these sets absolute rarities.

Design

The obverse (Heads): A young depiction of Liberty with winged Phrygian cap, reminiscent of the Roman god Mercury. Adapted from Adolph Weinman's classic design first used on the Mercury Dime in 1916.
Reverse: A majestic eagle perched atop a rock along with the weight, purity, and $25 face value. This design, also created by Adolph Weinman, has been used since 1907 on the American Institute of Architects' annual Gold Medal.
