2021 W $100 Gold Liberty High Relief NGC PF70 UCAM FDOI – Anna Cabral Signature – Only 12,500 minted!

Liberty takes on a new look with this stunning high-relief collectible from the United States Mint. Since its creation over 225 years ago, the U.S. Mint has typically depicted Liberty in the form of allegorical female figures. That changes with this release as the Mint explores the concept of Liberty beyond those previous incarnations. The new obverse (heads side) portrays Liberty as a wild American Mustang horse, bucking off a western-style saddle, evoking the throwing off of the yoke of British rule during the American Revolution. The horse is centered on a rising sun. Inscriptions include “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and “2021.” The design was created by United States Mint Artistic Infusion Program (AIP) Designer Beth Zaiken and sculpted by United States Mint Medallic Artist Craig A. Campbell.

The reverse (tails) depicts a close-up view of an eagle with an open beak, with the inscriptions “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” “1 OZ.,” “.9999 FINE GOLD,” “$100,” and “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.” The design was created by AIP Designer Richard Masters and sculpted by Medallic Artist Phebe Hemphill.

Coins are graded on the Sheldon numeric grading scale of 1 to 70. To achieve the top grade 70, a coin must have no post-production imperfections at 5x magnification. The high-quality high-relief proof strike gives this coin outstanding eye appeal. This coin is certified in perfect PF70 condition. NGC has examined the “Strike Elements” of this coin and awarded it an Ultra Cameo designation. This designation only applies to proof coins where the smooth surfaces, (The fields) are deeply mirrored and the devices (design elements) are heavily frosted for bold contrast on both sides of the coin. Anna Escobedo Cabral, 42nd Treasurer of the United States, has signed this coin. Her signature is predominantly recognizable because it appears on Federal Reserve Notes Series 2003A, 2004A, 2006, and 2006A. Only 12,500 coins were minted, the lowest in the $100 Liberty gold coin series.
