The Purple Heart is awarded to members of the U.S. Armed Forces wounded or killed by enemy action. Since World War I, an estimated 1.8 million men and women have received a Purple Heart.

This coin is certified in the highest possible collector grade of perfect Proof 70 Deep Cameo (PR70 DCAM) by the leading coin grading service PCGS. This coin also has the important First Day of Issue (FDI) designation that collectors look for.
Coins certified in perfect PR70 condition with the coveted First Day of Issue designation are scarce. This coin has also been individually hand-signed by General George W. Casey Jr, a four-star general who served as the 36th Chief of Staff of the United States Army from 2007 to 2011. President George W Bush appointed him as Commanding General, Multi-National Force – Iraq, from 2004 to 2007, he led over 1 million soldiers.
