The year 2021 marked the most significant change to the American Silver Eagle series in thirty-five years, John Mercanti’s iconic heraldic eagle design that’s famous around the world was replaced with a stunning new eagle landing design by Emily S. Damstra. 2021 was a unique year because two Silver Eagles were issued with two different designs. Each coin was only produced for six short months. This 2022 coin is a key date in the series as it marks the first full year of production of coins bearing the new Type 2 design.
