The American Gold Eagle series was introduced in 1986 followed by the American Gold Buffalo series, America’s first 24 karat gold coin in 1986. The American Liberty Series featuring America’s first $100 face value gold coins was introduced in 2015. In-between there have been numerous gold commemorative issues, curved coins, special finishes, and strikes.
