American Gold Coin
The Coinage Act of 1792 was the first law to authorize the production of gold coins in the USA. Gold coins were issued continually until 1933. The first modern issue U.S. Gold coin was 1984 Olympic $10 commemorating the 1984 Olympic Games held in Los Angeles. The American Gold Eagle series was introduced in 1986 followed by the American Gold Buffalo series, America’s first 24 karat gold coin in 1986. The American Liberty Series featuring America’s first $100 face value gold coins was introduced in 2015. In-between there have been numerous gold commemorative issues, curved coins, special finishes, and strikes.
