Imagine if the U.S. Mint decided to change all our coins designs all at the same time. The Penny all the way up to the Dollar coin. Make each of the coins in pure gold and make a tiny mintage! That is exactly what just happened in Great Britain!

When King Charles took over the British throne, he took over a very prestigious honor when it comes to coins. His image will now grace billions of coins world-wide.  His effigy will be on more coins in the world than any other person. He also has the right to shape what the circulating coins will look like for his kingdom. That is exactly what the King decided to do. He decided to change al eight circulating coins at the same time!  The Royal Mint then decided to issue an extremely limited Gold Proof set of all eight of these coins called the “Definitives” set, and it certainly lives up to the name.

These eight coins are all unique and range in size from about one quarter ounce to half an ounce in size of pure gold.  There are nearly three ounces of pure gold in this set!  Four of the coins are rose gold traditional round coins, two are unique seven-sided shaped rose gold coins, and two are bi-metallic gold coins that have a center of yellow gold surrounded by a ring of rose gold! They range in denomination from the lowest being a 1-Pence all the way to a 2-Pound denomination. Each coin features a different animal or plant that is native to the four regions of the British Empire.

They were handpicked by the King himself as these animals and plants hold a special place in his heart from memories while he was growing up. These coins are truly beautiful and together displayed as a set, it really is as regal as you would imagine them to be!  The last time a Definitives set was issued was during the reign of Queen Elizabeth II, fifteen years ago. Since it is almost a certainty that King Charles reign won’t surpass Queen Elizabeth II, this set is also likely the Only “Definitives” set that will Ever be issued for the King. The mintage is only 125 sets worldwide. This is so insanely low for the significance of this set! They are assured of being highly sought after coins for generations!

NGC has certified each coin in perfect PF70 UCAM condition, the highest state of perfection possible. British sculptor Martin Jennings, the designer of the effigy of King Charles III personally signed fifteen of the one hundred and twenty-five sets released.
